RECORD SPENDING BY THE PRESIDENCY OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS
The Presidency of Religious Affairs continued its tradition of exorbitant spending, which reaches tens of billions of lira almost every year, in 2026 as well. It was reported that the Presidency, which spent 91 billion 824 million 805 thousand TL in 2024 and 130 billion 119 million 153 thousand TL in 2025, spent 88 billion 934 million 781 thousand TL in the first half of 2026. The Communications Directorate, described as ‘the Palace’s propaganda tool’ in terms of its activities, also opened the purse strings. It was revealed that the Communications Directorate, which spent 6 billion 155 million 14 thousand TL in 2025, spent 2 billion 937 million 489 thousand TL in the first half of 2026.
