The next generation precision munition Firefly, which can autonomously correct its course even when enemy electronic warfare systems try to throw it off target, has completed its tests. The new system, which has an altitude capability of 800 metres and autonomous course correction, stands out in the country’s domestic defence push.

Firefly offers carrier platforms the ability to strike fortifications and protected positions from a safe distance. The munition has been successfully tested on the country’s main bomber drones.

Production Greenlit by Government Decisio

The process that paved the way for serial production came into effect with Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers Decision No. 1310 dated 13 October 2025. This regulation allows the Ministry of Defence to transfer technology usage rights to private defence industry companies. Producers and innovators within the Brave1 platform can now scale up production of the Firefly project and integrate it into their own processes.

Domestic Production Emphasis in Ukraine’s Defence Strategy

Ukraine, which has made maintaining technological superiority over the enemy a strategic priority, codified and approved 1,184 new weapon and military equipment items for use by the Defence Forces in the first half of 2026. More than 90 percent of the codified products are domestically manufactured, and the army inventory now includes over 200 different types of munitions.
