CHP Leader Özgür Özel met with his "A-Team" in parliament. The main agenda item of the meeting, held in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) CHP Group Management Hall, was the operations targeting CHP municipalities.

Özel also exchanged views with his staff regarding the ongoing field work. It was reported that the discussions concerning the new party were also addressed during the meeting. According to information obtained from CHP sources, the discussions on the new party have reached their final stage.

Stating that the petition for the establishment of the new party is ready, CHP officials said that they would wait for the start of the judicial recess to submit the petition.

FINAL BEND FOR THE NEW PARTY

CHP officials recalled that the judicial recess would begin on Monday, 20 July. Emphasising that the Court of Cassation has not yet put the objection to the decision of the Ankara Regional Court of Justice 36th Civil Chamber on its agenda, CHP officials noted that 17 July is the last day for the file to be taken onto the agenda. In this context, it was stated that the petition for the establishment of the new party could be submitted to the Ministry of Interior on 17 July. It was also claimed that the new party would be announced on 24 July, the signing anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne.

It was learned that CHP Leader Özel told his staff, "We will not drag those who trust us into despair." Stated to have once again demonstrated his will to continue on the path within the CHP until the last moment, Özel was reported to have repeated the expression, "Very soon, we will either find a way to take our party back, or we will open a new path."

CHP officials explained that, in the first stage, only a small number of MPs might defect to the newly established party. Expressing that those who do not defect to the new party will continue their struggle within the CHP, party officials noted that the view of "Let us defect to the new party en masse and continue on our way as the new main opposition" was also brought to the agenda.

FIELD WORK

Evaluations regarding field work were also made during the meeting. While it was stated that Özel would continue his field work, CHP officials said, "We do not need buildings or seats. Wherever the public is, we are there. We do not need a podium to bring the public's problems to the agenda; if necessary, we will set the agenda from on top of a bench."

During the meeting, CHP officials also made evaluations regarding the operations targeting municipalities. In response to the question, "Will the wave of operations extend to Özgür Özel?" directed at the operation targeting Çankaya Municipality, officials gave the following reply: "Everything we said 'would not happen' is happening. What has transpired in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) case shows that the accusations against our colleagues are groundless. Similarly, files based on abstract allegations are being prepared against our municipalities. A process leading to our Chairman through Çankaya Municipality might be being designed. However, whatever they do, they can no longer stop this march. Our foreheads are clean, and we have the public behind us."

In the CHP, the signatures of 833 notarised delegates gathered to demand an extraordinary congress will be taken to the civil courts of peace today. Following the decision of the Ankara Regional Court of Justice 36th Civil Chamber, an application will be made because the administration appointed to the CHP Headquarters has not processed the signatures, and a call committee will be requested for the extraordinary congress.

The application will also state that "the failure to process the signatures violates the Party Bylaws." The courts will be asked to "determine the necessity of convening the extraordinary congress." The court to which the application is made will first examine whether the required majority of delegates is met. Following this determination, if it is concluded that "the conditions have been met", a decision can be made to hold the congress, and a call committee will be appointed to the CHP.

A determination that the Party Assembly has fallen due to the resignation of 27 members will also be requested from the civil courts of first instance.
